As the author, I agree! I did originally have space for an example near the start, but I ended up taking it out because I couldn't think of a good example that wasn't deeply contrived, and I'm currently on parental leave so I can't easily check the codebases I work on regularly for examples that I've run into there.
I probably wouldn't have thought to include the "after" example as well, though, so thanks for that feedback. In my next post I'll try and include more examples.

This would be more interesting with a few examples of overly long variables and a revised approach with a comment. Ideally realistic ones.
